Altolaguirre's mother dies in September, an event that will mark him for life. He publishes his first book of poetry, Las islas invitadas y otros poemas, in October, and Alberti’s La amante appears as a supplement of the journal Litoral in November. The first two issues of Litoral appear in November and December, with texts by Bergamín, Lorca, Guillén, Diego, Alberti, Prados, Hinojosa, Cernuda and Altolaguirre, and drawings by Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, Francisco G. Cossío, José M. Uzelai, Benjamín Palencia and José Moreno Villa.
