Altolaguirre and his wife begin publishing the bilingual journal 1616 (the title refers to the year in which both Shakespeare and Cervantes died) in a new printing house in London. Ten issues of the journal will be published, uniting works by T. S. Eliot, Housman, Shelley, Byron, Gil Vicente, San Juan de la Cruz, Lope de Vega, Lorca, Neruda, Aleixandre, Serrano Plaja and Cernuda, among others. Altolaguirre translates the first 33 stanzas of Shelley's Adonaïs. Ramón Pérez de Ayala’s Ramoneo and Stanley Richardson’s Way into Life appear as supplements of 1616. They also print Poems read at the Merry Meeting, and a lavish catalog of flamenco art. Their daughter, Elizabeth Paloma, is born on March 15, 1935.
