This book was the result of the unfortunate love affair with a young American girl that Moreno Villa had met at the Residencia de Estudiantes in late 1926. Jacinta la pelirroja is one of the most amazing poetry books of the 1920s in Spain. It was received with joy and surprise at the time of its publication, and it remains today the most personal and poetic work written by the author.
Jacinta la pelirroja is a book of poems and drawings with different but non-complementary readings. His author pointed out that the drawings are not illustrative but rather a sort of spiritual support, which reflect, above all, a radical change in his art.
One might think that we have here a graphic expression close to what is known as automatic drawing, but it would be wrong to ascribe this book to the realm of the subconscious or the Surrealism.
