The catalogue of the exhibition Poetas del cuerpo. La danza de la Edad de Plata aims to shed light on this little known aspect of our most recent cultural history and, at the same time, most brilliant from the artistic point of view. With that purpose, it includes the results of detailed scientific researches with new data and perspectives on the works and their protagonists, added to the visibility of aspects that are less known and undervalued to this day. The catalogue offers more than a dozen studies of specialists who pay attention to the diverse disciplines, which evolved significantly in those years: classic dance or academic dance, modern dance and Spanish dance in their different forms, are gathered. At the same time, many artistic works and documentation exhibited are shown –many of them unpublished or not well known-, with the purpose of completing a monography that wants to be a significant support to this cultural field, whose knowledge is, without doubt, yet to be deepened.

After a Chronology, the curator Idoia Murga Castro exposes the account on which the exhibition sustains, through the different threads that are woven in the plot of this complex interdisciplinary panorama around the dance of the Edad de Plata. Juan Manuel Bonet’s chapter focuses on the literary and artistic background that links the intellectuals and artists of the first third of the XX century, who were highly attracted by the possibilities that dancers and choreographers delivered on stage. Afterwards, several specialists in the history of dance, musicology, art history, cinema and criticism focus on the aspects more concrete of the dance production of this period. An anthology of historical texts and a section of biographical notes of the most distinguished choreographers and dancers of the Edad de Plata complete these studies.
